BUS GPS

“Place it & forget it”. Bus GPS is a component of TransitIQ that is placed on the vehicles, and fully automates the collection of real-time data. No interaction with the driver is needed. Bus GPS can act as a stand-alone application, or in concert with other data gathering systems on the vehicle.

  • Real time position reporting: Bus GPS records the vehicles’ location data with unparalleled precision and speed. Every few seconds, the current location is transmitted to TransitIQ for real-time analysis and reporting.
  • Current vs. “scheduled” positions: Bus GPS can continuously identify the deltas between the actual time and location versus the scheduled time and location.
  • Deviations from schedule: With Bus GPS consistent or ad hoc deviations from schedules become known, and preventive actions can be taken, so that riders’ expectations are set correctly, which in turn increases rider satisfaction.
  • Real-time API: If the transit agency wishes to nurture a developer ecosystem, the real-time data of Bus GPS can automatically become available to external developers via the TransitIQ API. Via this method, other internal, dependent systems can also be made aware of the current situation “on the ground”.

Riders can interact with your data using modern user interaction paradigms. With TransitIQ’s interactive touch application, riders can plan trips, get an understanding of the transit options available to them, or “simply” see the next transit arrivals at any given location.

  • Installed in public places: TransitIQ’s interactive touch application is available to riders in high-traffic locations, where riders might be confused by the various options available to them.
  • Passengers explore their trip options right at bus stops, train stations, or transit centers, and can send their respective information to their electronic devices, so they have it at their fingertips throughout their journey.
  • Upcoming arrivals: All upcoming transit arrivals are visualized in real-time.

DISPLAY
APPLICATION

TransitIQ’s display application is not interactive. It serves to inform the ridership in modern ways about the current locations of the various vehicles in the vicinity of the location, where the application is displayed.

  • Installed in public places: As with the interactive touch application, TransitIQ’s display application is installed in public places to most accurately inform and set expectations of the ridership visually and in real-time.
  • Shows stops, buses, arrival times: All necessary information of the transit system around the location, where the display application is installed, is continuously updated on the display. This sets the riders’ expectations, reduces anxiety, and therefore increases customer satisfaction.
  • Shows additional info (weather, news, ads, etc.): TransitIQ’s display application can be complemented easily with additional data or content, such as weather, breaking news, informational content, etc.

MOBILE

TransitIQ can be extended to the ridership via several mobile applications that allow the riders to understand the transit options available to them wherever they are, to plan their upcoming trip most efficiently and based on their individual preferences, or to “simply” tap into the real-time data capabilities of TransitIQ in order to understand when to expect the next transit arrival at their particular location.

  • iPhone, Android, Windows Phone: TransitIQ Mobile provides native applications out-of-the-box across all major mobile platforms.
  • Closest Real-Time Arrivals: All upcoming arrivals are constantly refreshed, and adjusted based on location changes of the rider, and real-time data of the transit vehicle.
  • Trips based on Real-Time Data: TransitIQ Mobile calculates the most efficient trips based on the latest real-time data and the riders’ individual preferences.

WIDGET

TransitIQ extends its real-time trip planer to any website using an out-of-the-box widget that can be embedded by the transit authority without major IT efforts.

  • Cloud: Desktop Trip Planner Application lives in the cloud. All the necessary infrastructure behind TransitIQ’s widget is in the cloud to allow for the most scalable and robust back-end, and to minimize the efforts for IT departments.
  • No silo: The widget can consume all neighboring transit data into the underlying API, guaranteeing your riders the best possible trip across multiple transit agencies.
  • Information at the riders’ fingertips: Users can text or email itineraries to their mobile devices, so they do no longer need to print their trip schedules, or carry paper schedules provided by the transit agencies with them.
